A Commitment to Quality: Preserving A Heritage of Handcrafted Excellence

There will never be shortcuts to excellence. What makes a Gratitude Millworks Cottage so pleasing to the eye is the attention to details, many of them hidden, most of them rare in today’s world.

We believe, much like the author J.R.R. Tolkien, that run-away industrialization and mass production robs a man of the dignity of creating a piece of history to be enjoyed then passed on to succeeding generations. We are committed to preserving the skilled traditions of craftsmanship handed down from our forefathers. Nothing will ever replace, not any machine replicate, the refined beauty and patina of traditional hand-planed wood flooring and timbers, carefully inspected for perfection by the human eye and skilled hand; or the elegant millwork patterns, which talented furniture makers such as Gustav Stickley created for their own homes, becoming thoughtfully integrated into each of our cottages.

I have seen this man’s work in Hanceville and it is absolutely exquiste! Having built two houses and renovated several more buildings I simply cannot believe the quality of craftsmanship, care, and “feel” to these buildings. It is a lost art and the price is right with many options available which we have discussed. I am thinking of how one would look lakeside….

Hi there! LOVE this! It is so beautiful!!! We have a large family, and I have not found much on the web that is designed to house a large family in a small-ish space. Do you have any ideas? We have 4 small children, plus my husband and I. I have thought about it a lot, and have many drawings, but I’m lacking the skills to make it happen!

Folks, the best thing to do is call Kent at 256-339-1478. The website is simply for letting people see pictures and get an idea of his work. Unfortunately, he is not reachable by email (for many reasons) but will gladly take your calls and answer all of your questions.
